What is the actual brand creation project process?

What is the process?

Here are the key stages of a project.

Initial Consultation.
We offer a free initial consultation and from this we will write a tailored proposal. Upon acceptance we’ll go into a discovery phase.

Discovery.
It’s vital that we get to know your business. We’ve been doing this for more than 20 years so we’re pretty good at quickly understanding the core challenges facing our clients and getting on to the front-foot. We will consider all of the relevant factors that will influence your brand. Having thoroughly undertaken this aspect we then move forward to concepts.

Concept.
3-4 weeks after project go-ahead we will present conceptual ideas. These will be built around one core strategic positioning but a with number of conceptual routes as to how they might manifest. These will show mock-ups of how they will look on key pieces of collateral so that you’ll effectively be looking at 3-4 brands carrying you name. This is also the opportunity for you to get very involved in the creative process and really make your input.

Development
From this point we will select one route to take forward into development. This stage effectively sees us get rid of all the concept ideas that we’re not using and concentrating on refining and polishing the one that we are.

Implementation
In parallel with the development stage we will be applying the branding to all the items that you’ll need – packaging & print, signage & interiors, website etc – ready for sending to the various producers for production.

Formalisation.
It will then be formalised into brand guidelines. This is an important document that encapsulates the whole project. It is something that has value in two ways. Firstly you will have a visually impressive document that says ‘this is our brand’ that you can use with investors or potential landlords. Secondly you can use to brief other contractors moving forward.

Timescales.
A normal brand project takes 2-3 months, or possibly longer depending upon its complexity – particularly if there is the interior fit-out of a bricks and mortar space to take into account.

Naming.
If we are also asked to also generate naming ideas this will build in additional time at the front of the project to allow for generating an ideas shortlist and also for independent trademark checking.
