West One, Marylebone W1

Brand redevelopment and interior design on behalf of a premium beauty salon located on Chiltern Street in Marylebone. Our work covers creating a new, integrated, visual identity system that was then implemented across packaging, printed items, staff uniforms and online. The second part of the project covered redesigning the two storey interior. We used metro tiles which are normally associated with a foodie offer to give the salon a more unusual edge and we then offset this with gorgeous, warm Edison bulb lighting and a muted tonal paint scheme. All very relaxing after a hard lunch session across the road at The Chiltern Firehouse.

National Youth Choirs Great Britain

We were honoured to be invited to rebrand the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. We were brought in to articulate the brand proposition both in tone and visually. A challenging project but a great result. The brief outlined that the words Great Britain should subordinate to the main words in the name – National Youth Choirs. How to achieve this when the only option for such a long name is the use of an acronym… whilst also making a subtle nod to their musical raison d’être? The simple solution that we came up with involves using the ‘GB’ element to reference the time sequence annotation that you find on a musical stave.

Fort Dunlop

Development of a graphic corporate identity system, logo design and subsequent implementation programme for the regeneration of an iconic West Midlands building on behalf of Urban Splash. The logo references both its heyday in the 20s and 30s as a major tyre production centre – and also the profile of the building itself, whilst industrial sized ‘super graphics’ integrate the wayfinding system into the architectural theme of the building itself.

FindersKeepers

One of the projects that we are most often approached about is our root and branch rebrand of the multi Sunday Times award winning FindersKeepers. It has been a major success and has pretty much exceeding all the client’s hopes and expectations. In 2011 we were asked to formulate a plan that would reinforce and expand the market position of Oxfordshire’s largest independent property agency business as it fronted up to its national high street chain agency competitors. “Make us into a sharp instrument rather than a blunt tool” was the thrust of the brief from Dan Channer, the group’s marketing director.

In short, our solution uses colour strategically. We took ownership of vibrant hues and applied them to everything from property boards to agency shop fascias and vehicles to fully wrapped taxis. The result, according to commissioned post roll-out target audience research, was massively increased perceived critical mass – “FindersKeepers seems to be everywhere”. As mentioned, a particularly unusual and interesting aspect of the branding project was to use 5 different colour lettings boards in order to reflect its independent, young and fresh positioning. We were subsequently asked back to refresh the brand again in late 2015 when we made a series of significant but subtle changes that will keep the 9 office business at the forefront of the market.

White Oak

We were approached to create the brand proposition, identity and supporting collateral on behalf of WhiteOak a Mayfair based financial consultancy that works on an international basis with high net worth clients. Bread & Butter

Another foodie brand creation project, creating the brand identity and interior for Bread & Butter Eatery in Leamington Spa. This was a relatively low budget project but very rewarding in the sense that the brief from the client was very much along the lines of “you are the expert not me, so I’ll give you full creative freedom…’.

The old shop interior was stripped out back to bare brick in what I call a ‘scorched earth policy’. I selected a combination of natural timber, exposed brick, feather edged boarding and metro tiles complemented by oversized cowbell and exposed filament jamjar lights. I also installed all of the bric-a-brac and emptied three sacks of dried Autumn leaves over the floor to complete the look.

21 Ball, Park Lane

Branding of a charity ball at The Dorchester Hotel in London on behalf of Babes in Arms. We stepped in to help at the last minute and had 8 days from brief through to sign-off for production. This included pulling together the 40 page event programme plus other branded elements including table cards, photographer’s backdrop and website landing page. An eclectic identity style was developed that set up a versatile visual system to allow for content of various provenance – what we tend to refer to as ‘Freedom Within A Framework’.

IDFB

Development on behalf of the International Dance Festival Birmingham of an identity that would simultaneously have a powerful impact as a branding device in its purest sense and would also represent the various different disciplines of dance involved within the festival.

The logo design was created from a kaleidoscope-type overlay of different dance styles following much redrawing and reinterpretation. The end result has has been applied across everything from buildings, brochures, the internet and national advertising campaigns.
